Automotiv [2023]
As part of the exhibition format “Das Trottoir”, which created a temporary public space for the day of the show by hijacking the administrative structures of parking permits: The transitory nature of the parking lot as an exhibition space becomes a contradiction of its function, as the status of the Miles rental car itself stagnates between that of an art object and that of a means of transport. By colliding the expectations of the audience in the exhibition context with the persistence of the constantly running engines of the vans, Automotiv accentuates the state of tension as a prototypical phenomenon of coexistence in urban space.
